To Cusco

Cusco, the ancient capital of the vast Inca Empire is situated high in the Andes at about 3350m and on more or less 800 kilometers from Lima, where most people arrive. There are two ways to get to Cusco from Lima: by bus or by plane. We really recommend the second option!

By bus
The bus ride from Lima to Cusco takes in theory 19 hours. That’s if everything goes well. We have done various longer rides; our ‘personal record’ is 28 hours! What’s more, the route isn’t that great, especially the last 4 or 5 hours it’s a very winding road and you’ll probably also feel the effects of the high altitude.
A bus ticket will cost you $ 40 or more.

By plane
A flight from Lima to Cusco takes about an hour. The price of tickets varies a lot. Unlike other Language Schools who charge a high fee for the purchase of your ticket, Mundo Antiguo offers you a net-price guarantee: you pay what the ticket costs, but not a penny more.

Lima Starters Program
As an extra service Mundo Antiguo Spanish School offers you the possibility to arrange your journey from the moment that you arrive at Lima Airport. We advice strongly against taking a cab on your own once in Lima Airport (many flights from Europe and the US arrive at night). The official taxis may charge 3 times to much (a ride to Miraflores for example costs $ 45) and the illegal taxis are not always safe.
As most of the international flights arrive at night and 90% of the flight to Cusco are in the morning (due to better weather circumstances), we created our Lima Starters Program: our contact person will await you at the airport and brings you to one of our selected hotels. There you’ll stay for the night. The next morning we’ll take you back to the airport for your flight to Cusco.
You can choose between different hotel standards: budget (about $ 30 for a double room), tourist ($40-50), comfort ($50-100) or luxurious (more than $ 100), in different neighborhoods of Lima or close to the airport.

The price of this service is from $ 45 for 1 person to $ 55 for 2 persons (including transport from and to the airport and overnight stay in one of our selected hotels).

Free flight reservation and pick-up service at Cusco Aiport
For our language students who reserved at least one week program of 10 hours we reserve a ticket Lima-Cusco (and optionally the return-flight) with net-price guarantee. We can also pick you up personally from Cusco Aiport. Price of that service is USD 15.
